Chabad’s Children of Chernobyl

Through the inspiration of David’s art and butterflies, Chabad’s Children of Chernobyl event of 2009 featured a theme of “New Beginnings”. David created the awards given to honorees of the evening, including Academy Award winning actor Matt Damon.

For this event, and as one of the biggest honors of his career, David was commissioned to create the award, “Book Of Life”, in honor of the life of Rabbi Yossi Raichik. The “Book Of Life” depicts pages filled with words from those Rabbi Yossi touched throughout his life, with those pages transforming into butterflies, each representing the 2,547 children he helped save and give new lives. David has said this is one of the most personal pieces he has ever created.
